Solution:

The file ".profile" which resides in your home directory is very important. It tells the system where to look for executable files and contains many system variables.

If you remove your ".profile", then you could experience problems like:

1. You have a dollar sign ($) for a prompt
2. man pages not working
3. Your editor not working for e-mail

In order to restore the system default profile, type the following at your ACME prompt:

/usr/local/lib/profile_init

NOTE: You will need to logout and log back in to the system in order for these changes to take effect.
