Solution:

You should be able to read and post news using the default settings in Pine on acme.

Reading News

  1. From Pine's main menu, hit L to list folders
  2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "News" item and hit Enter
  3. To subscribe to a new group, hit A and enter all or part of the group's name
  4. To read messages in a subscribed group, select the group using the arrow keys and hit Enter

Posting News

  1. From Pine's main menu, hit L to list folders
  2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "News" item and hit Enter
  3. Select a group that you have subscribed to using the arrow keys and hit Enter
  4. Hit C to compose a new message
  5. When you are done with your message, hit Ctrl+X to send it
