OIT Frequently Asked Questions

Problem: How do I use SecureCRT (ssh) to connect to acme?
Entry: 0243

Solution:

If you don't have SecureCRT, you can download it from OIT Software Distribution.

There are many advanced options available with ssh, but this fAQ covers connecting to acme for a simple interactive login.

First, click on the "Quick Connect" icon in the tool bar as shown.

SecureCRT Toolbar

Then enter the information as shown here:

SecureCRT Connection Dialog

You may wish to save the session as "acme" or "Prism" so you don't need to configure it each time you use the program. The first time you connect, the program will prompt you with this message:

SecureCRT Host Key Dialog

If you select "Accept & Save", you will not be prompted again.

Once SecureCRT connects you will be prompted for your password. Enter your GT Account and GT Account password and you will be logged in to acme.

NOTE: SecureCRT supports Zmodem file transfers, which can be used as a substitute for FTP. See the FAQ for specific information on Zmodem.
