Suppose you have the domain EXAMPLE.gatech.edu and you would like TESTING.EXAMPLE.gatech.edu setup under it. You will need to add it to your control panel and create a DNS record pointing to your EXAMPLE.gatech.edu site so the webserver will respond to page requests for it.
Configuring the subdomain in the control
- Goto http://hosting.gatech.edu and click your domain EXAMPLE.gatech.edu on the left hand side.
- In the control panel under "Websites & Domains", click on the "Add New Subdomain" button.
- Next fill in the Add New Subdomain form.
- Click the "Ok" button.
You should now see your new subdomain under the primary domain:
Configuring the Subdomain in DNS
The best way to get DNS set is to send a ticket to email@example.com with the subject of "Webhosting: Link CNAME TESTING.EXAMPLE.gatech.edu to EXAMPLE.gatech.edu"
Advanced users may wish to test first before setting DNS by configuring their workstation's "hosts" file, but these instructions are beyond the scope of this faq.
