How do I add an account to Duo Mobile on iOS?

Duo Mobile on iOS

The Duo Mobile application makes it easy to authenticate — just tap “Approve” on the login request sent to your iOS device. You can also quickly generate login passcodes, even without an internet connection or cell service.

NOTE 1: You can reactivate a device or setup a replacement device by using the Passport Self-Service page: https://faq.oit.gatech.edu/content/how-do-i-reset-duo-2fa-new-device-passport-self-service

NOTE 2: When you "UPDATE" the DUO Mobile application, you will need to delete the GT account in the DUO Mobile application. Next, you will need to go to https://passport.gatech.edu/ to re-initialize the DUO Mobile application.

Please also be aware that even if you have the SAME phone number, but you are switching phones Operating Systems (moving from iOS-Apple to Android or vice versa) you will still need to click on the "ADD ANOTHER PHONE" link in passport self service window.

Doing this will require you to Authenticate via 2 Factor before you can select the NEW software platform , for activation purposes to add your new device.


Adding Accounts to Duo Mobile

  • A DUO administrator will send you an MMS message OR email (iPad users). Click the appropriate button to view the message and follow the instructions.

  

  • Click on the installation link in the message and install the DUO MOBILE application from the app store. Click the appropriate button to install the application.

   

  • The DUO app should now be installed. Please DO NOT click the "Add Account" button. Go back to the initial MMS (text) message that was sent to you and follow the instructons in the SECOND message, that tells you how to "Activate the DUO MOBILE App".  You should be able to "Open" the link using the DUO MOBILE app. Once it has been activated you should see a "Georgia Institute of Technology" entry. Clicking on the "Key" to the right exposes your temporary 6 digit passcode. See the "Passcode" section below for more details.

 

If you ever need to reactivate your Duo Mobile account, please contact your administrator.


Duo Push

Duo Push is the easiest and quickest way of authenticating. You'll get a login request sent to your phone — just press Approve to authenticate.

If you get a login request that you weren't expecting, press Deny to reject the request. You’ll be given the ability to report it as fraudulent, or you can tap It was a mistake to deny the request without reporting it.


Passcodes

Just tap the key button to generate a passcode. This works anywhere, even in places where you don't have an internet connection or can't get cell service.


Third-Party Accounts

Duo Mobile supports third-party TOTP accounts, like Google and Dropbox. Learn more »


Removing Accounts

Delete an account by tapping the Edit button in the upper left. Then tap the delete icon, tap "Delete", and confirm the deletion.
