What is Dropbox Paper and how can I use it?

Do I need to be signed in to Dropbox to access Paper?

Yes, you must be signed in to Dropbox with your Georgia Tech credentials to access Paper.

How do I create a Paper document?

You can create a Paper doc directly from your main Dropbox homepage, aor you can create one from a specific folder.

Do Paper docs count towards my Dropbox storage quota?

No. for now, Dropbox Paper doesn't place a limit on the number of docs you can create, and includes unlimited version history.

Are my Paper docs stored in my Dropbox folders?

Yes. Dropbox allows you to store Paper docs in your Dropbox folders on dropbox.com, with your other files and folders. It will allow you to create, edit, and share Paper docs.

Can I add Dropbox files and folders to my Paper doc?

While you can't directly access your Dropbox files and folders in Paper, you can link or embed a file from your Dropbox directly in a doc (for example, an image or media file).

Note: You can also copy and paste the URL of a file or folder into a Paper doc and it will link to it automatically.

To link to a file from your Dropbox:

  1. Click an empty line in your Paper doc.
  2. From the toolbar that appears to the right, click the Insert from Dropbox icon (it looks like the Dropbox logo).
  3. In the pop-up window, select the file you'd like to add to the doc.

To link from your Dropbox:

  1. Click an empty line in your Paper doc.

  3. Click the checkbox next to the folder you'd like to link to.
  4. Click Choose.

How do I share a Paper doc?

  1. Open the Paper doc you want to share.
  2. Click the blue invite (or Share) button at the top of the doc.
  3. Type the email address of the person or people you want to share with. You have the option to include a message.
  4. Click Can edit to choose the permissions access you'd like invitees to have:
    • Can comment allows others to leave comments on your content
    • Can edit allows others to directly add to, edite, or delete your content, and to invite others to the doc
  5. Click Send.

How to share by sending a link

By default, whoever has the link you share will be able to edit your file.

  1. Open the Paper doc you want to share.
  2. Click the Copy link button (chain icon) at the top of the doc.
  3. Paste the link to the email, chat message, or text.
